Camellia sasanqua ‘Cleopatra’ is one of the earliest camellias you can buy, with flowers blooming right through winter with some flushes as early as October! A mid to late season camellia, you will still be enjoying flower right at the end of winter with a spectacular way to welcome spring into your garden. The flowers themselves are interesting and quite distinct to those of camellia japonica. The petals are much more lobed grouped around a distinct, bright yellow centre. This mix of soft pink and bright yellow really creates a beautiful display of colour for the winter months. ‘Cleopatra’ is perfectly suited to planting in a container to bring some colour to a terrace or patio and will do best in ericaceous soil in either partial shade or sun.
